Relationship with Hotel(s): Several Hyatt hotels in France identified Les Déterminés as their primary national RiseHY partner in 2019 when the initiative was launched in France. Since launching, Les Déterminés has helped several Hyatt hotels in France source and train over 40 Opportunity Youth. These Hyatt hotels have gone on to provide additional vocational training to roughly 30 Opportunity Youth and successfully hire 16. In addition, Hyatt France leadership serves on the Strategic Committee of Les Déterminés and the hotels host Les Déterminés events, such as their Master Classes.
NGO mission: Les Déterminés’ purpose is to help develop both an initiative and entrepreneurial spirit in underserved and isolated territories, in France.
Grant purpose: Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Opportunity Youth represent almost 20 percent of young people aged 16 to 25 in France. To address the issue of youth disengagement from education or employment, Les Déterminés developed a partnership with the hospitality sector in Paris, preparing Opportunity Youth for a job in hospitality.
Continuing the success of a previous partnerships, the Hyatt Community Grant from Hyatt will be used by Les Déterminés to sustain their work training Opportunity Youth to develop an entrepreneurial spirit and hospitality skills. Les Déterminés will carefully source and select the participants from underserved and isolated territories in the Parisian area. Funds will enable Les Déterminés to work with local partners to select and recruit participants, provide extensive coaching, mentoring and training leading to the hiring of 50 Opportunity Youth in hotels in the area.
Les Déterminés is responsible for coaching participants to develop their entrepreneurial, initiative and team spirit while helping them develop core competencies including French, computer literacy and English. This six months of vocational training, which sets the participants up for a successful professional training, allows Opportunity Youth to gather real-life, hands-on, practical experience while still receiving support from Les Déterminés.
