Relationship with Hotel(s): Grand Hyatt Amman has a long history of working with EFE-Jordan to support Hyatt’s RiseHY recruitment efforts. In 2022, the relationship expanded to include Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Resort. Together the two properties and EFE-Jordan are collaborating to create the Future Hotelier Academy, which aims to provide a life-changing opportunity for under-skilled youths to undertake an experience-based course to elevate their hospitality sector training, as well as soft and interpersonal skills. The goal of the Academy is to prepare youth for careers in the hospitality industry.
NGO mission: EFE-Jordan’s mission is to create economic opportunity for unemployed youth in Jordan.
Grant purpose: In 2019, Jordan had a youth unemployment rate of nearly 40 percent. These challenges have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Given 75 percent of Jordan’s population is below the age of 30, finding solutions to the youth unemployment problem is critical to the country’s future.
EFE-Jordan will use its Hyatt Hotels Foundation grant to provide training and job placement opportunities for 18 young Jordanians across the Amman and Aqaba governorates. As a first step, EFE-Jordan will conduct a market assessment to understand the most needed skills for hospitality sector work. It will then tailor its technical and soft-skills training to align with the market needs and requirements. From there unemployed youth will be recruited to participate in the program. Eighteen program participants will then undergo training in soft-skills, customer service, English language courses and technical training for the hospitality sector. Following graduation, program graduates will be connected with potential career opportunities in the hospitality sector.
