Jordan River Foundation (JRF)

Relationship with Hotel: Hyatt Regency Aqaba Ayla Resort will work with the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) in a new relationship to support hospitality industry training for under-resourced youth.

NGO mission: The Jordan River Foundation’s mission is to engage Jordanians to realize their full economic potential and overcome social challenges, especially child abuse.

Grant purpose:
The Hyatt Community Grant from Hyatt will allow JRF to strengthen and improve livelihood capacities of 10 vulnerable Jordanian youth to address basic and vocational skills shortages, and promote employment. In addition, they will provide targeted on-the-job training and mentorship and coaching, as well as guidance and support.

Activity 1: Community Outreach: JRF will conduct focused info and outreach sessions in the governorate of Aqaba to announce the project’s launch and inform the targeted populations about the training and livelihood services provided through the project. The outreach sessions will provide an introduction of the project objectives, approach, target groups, eligibility and selection criteria.

Activity 2: Core Capacities Training: Three days of Core Capacities Training will be provided to the selected Jordanian youth to empower them with basic and soft skills in Aqaba. The training will be delivered online and will include 15 attendees per session. The core capacities training will cover four essential topics including personal attributes, positive attitudes and specialized skills and knowledge. Upon completion of this training, beneficiaries will be enrolled in on-the-job Training based on their needs and potential.

Activity 3: On-the-Job Training: This component will entail training the beneficiaries building their knowledge and developing their skills in the tourism sector. The on-the-job training will be provided at hotels to ensure employees’ retention and skills’ acquisition. 10 individuals will benefit from this opportunity over a duration of six months.

Activity 4: Mentoring and Coaching: JRF will provide mentoring and coaching on career guidance to beneficiaries to enhance their capacity before and following their participation in the on-the-job training program. JRF will identify and select qualified Field Mentors (i.e. Coaching and Mentoring Specialists) in addition to specialized Employment Mentors, who will provide mentoring and career advisory services. The mentors will conduct a total of 30 visits (Three mentoring visits per beneficiary over duration of four months).
