Relationship with Hotel: Beginning in 2022, Hyatt Regency Cartagena and Fundacion Aluna have created a partnership with the aim to give opportunities to people with cognitive disabilities.
NGO mission: Aluna’s mission is to contribute to improving the quality of life for people with cognitive disabilities, promoting respect for their dignity, personal autonomy and their and sociocultural inclusion.
Grant purpose: According to the 2005 Census and the 2015 population projections for Colombia, of the three million citizens with disabilities in the country, only 15 percent of those of working age are employed and only 2.5 percent earn at least a legal minimum wage. With the support of Hyatt Community Grant, Fundacion Aluna launched a pilot program to train young people with disabilities for work in the hospitality sector.
The project is focusing on helping construct training for young people with disabilities that will help them find meaningful employment. The aim is for more young people with disabilities to gain work experience, which will help bolster social and economic inclusion.
