The Foundation for Professional Training (FPT)
Relationship with Hotel: Grand Hyatt Manila partners with Punlaan School, a project of the Foundation for Professional Training (FPT), on its RiseHY recruitment efforts. Opportunity Youth from Punlaan School have undergone intensive training at the hotel, and colleagues from the property have volunteered their time and talent to support the school’s hospitality programs.
NGO mission: To contribute to the efforts of nation-building by empowering women of all walks of life – especially from under-resourced communities – through education, skills training and character building.
Grant purpose: Punlaan School has been offering a 16-month Dual Training Scholarship Program in Hospitality and Culinary Arts, which provides nine months theoretical and basic training in school and seven months of on-the-job training/ internship at partner hotels and restaurants.
Punlaan School has updated their curriculum to adapt to meet the needs of hospitality industry since COVID-19. In this regard, the school has developed Project NP (New Punlaan). NP is an additional training to equip students in the following areas:
- Kitchen sanitation and food safety
- Customer service
- Soft skills for the travel and hospitality industry
The Hyatt Community Grant from Hyatt gave 80 students and five teachers access to the new Project NP training.
