Relationship with Hotel: Thompson Seattle and Y Social Impact Center are two years into a partnership to support Opportunity Youth through Hyatt’s RiseHY program.

NGO mission: The Y Social Impact Center offers support for youth and young adults who are experiencing homelessness or in foster care.

Grant purpose:
Through the Hyatt Community Grant funded by Hyatt Hotels Foundation, the Y Social Impact Center offered internship opportunities for the participants of its Y's WAGES program. The Y’s WAGES program is a 10-week cohort model designed to further the employment readiness skill sets of young adults aged 17-24. Interns each receive approximately 45 hours of classroom training on a variety of soft skills related to maintaining employment and about 100 hours of internship training at hotels. While in this 100-hour internship, participants can work in a variety of departments within their hotel, including but not limited to: housekeeping, food and beverage, security, front desk, and marketing. Participants who reach specific benchmarks (mastery of three hard job skills, maintaining a professional and positive attitude for most of the internship, and attending 90 percent of all shifts and 90 percent of all shifts on time) will receive an opportunity to interview for permanent employment at Thompson Seattle.
