Andaz Singapore | Trybe Limited
Trybe Limited
Relationship with Hotel: Over the past two years, Andaz Singapore has been a partner of Trybe’s Building Eco-Systems (BES) program to place Opportunity Youth into hospitality sector roles.
NGO mission: Trybe’s mission is to provide career guidance and coaching for Opportunity Youth, allowing them to prepare and qualify for sustainable jobs.
Grant purpose: Trybe’s BES program helps to address the main contributing factors for Opportunity Youth in Singapore being disengaged with education, employment, or training. Some of those factors are:
- Lack of exposure to learning and work experience leading to a lack of understanding of career interest or clarity in career goals
- Youth not sufficiently equipped with the skillset suitable for the workforce
- Limited access to structured opportunities to develop a sense of self-esteem and self-efficiency, leading to limited chances to plan for and work toward long-term career goals
Trybe’s BES program enrolls youth in:
- Career profiling (values, interests, personality, skills) and job preparation coaching
- A minimum of two different stints exploring roles/industries through observation and shadowing
- A minimum of one attachment for youth to try out an identified role of interest. Youth will be employed and given job responsibilities for a short duration of one to three months. Job coaching sessions will be conducted to support the youth’s development and feedback from the youth’s work supervisor will be sought to improve youth’s hire ability.
- Evaluation and closure to discuss youth’s plans after graduation from the program, such as education, employment, or training. Youth can gain more clarity in the possible directions that they can take.
Hyatt Community Grant funded by Hyatt provided a stipend for 70 Opportunity Youth undergoing the BES program. The stipend supports Opportunity Youths daily expenses, such as transport and meal allowance, while they undergo career profiling and unpaid job exposure stints. The stipend allows the youth to fully focus on the BES program.
