Creating Opportunities for People to Thrive

We want the many places around the world we call home to be vibrant, thriving places where people have access to resources and opportunities to prosper. From providing employment and educational opportunities to responding when disasters strike, we strive to make our communities stronger because Hyatt is there.

Investing in and Volunteering to Vitalize Communities

We support communities around the world through volunteerism and charitable giving from our company, colleagues, owners, and guests, as well as through the disbursements of the Hyatt Hotels Foundation. In addition to year-round volunteerism activities, our collective impact is magnified during our Global Month of Community Service, when colleagues around the world come together to give back locally. Our giving supports education, career readiness, wellness, and environmental conservation projects.

Empowering Hotels to Drive Local Solutions

With hotels in hundreds of cities around the world, every community’s needs are different. Since 2008, the Hyatt Community Grants Program has empowered Hyatt hotels to identify the most pressing issues in their communities and support the nonprofit organizations providing meaningful local solutions. Through this unique program, our colleagues have the opportunity to nominate local nonprofits to receive grants that support local social and environmental priorities.

Helping People Start Careers

We believe that education and job readiness skills are foundational to a person’s success. As a business that can open the doors to rich and meaningful career paths for people with diverse backgrounds and skillsets, we are eager to help individuals grow to their potential. Through Hyatt’s global RiseHY, program, we strive to provide career opportunities for young people and help them reach their full potential. To accomplish this, we work on a range of programs that tackle unemployment and skill gaps:

  • Youth Career Initiative (YCI) – Hyatt hotels welcome and provide skills development training to young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds. 85% of YCI participants have gained employment or returned to education. Hyatt hotels have supported this program since 2008 in countries including India, Mexico, Brazil, Nepal, and Jordan.
  • 100,000 Opportunities Initiative – We have hired hundreds of people under the age 25 in the U.S. who live in areas with high populations of unemployed youth.
  • Hands On Education – We have partnered since 1998 to provide vocational training and job placements for individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities.
  • See an example of how our skills training can transform lives.

Additionally, through the International Tourism Partnership (ITP) our industry is coming together to strengthen youth employment.

Supporting Vulnerable Youth in Our Hometown

Hyatt’s headquarters and more than 20 Hyatt hotels are located in Chicago, and we take great pride in our hometown. Hyatt has adopted two schools in the Back of the Yards community, a low-income, at-risk neighborhood, and supports them through book drives, career workshops, job shadow days, college field trips, and other projects. We also work with organizations including Year Up Chicago, Griffith Tutoring, and Urban Alliance to provide internships, mentorships, tutoring, and employment opportunities to students across Chicago.

Helping Communities Recover from Disasters

When disasters strike in communities where we operate, we help those communities and colleagues affected to recover, rebuild, and thrive again. We team up with the American Red Cross and Mercy Corps to help us respond quickly and deliver financial assistance, while internal fundraising campaigns provide additional support to colleagues when possible.
