Providing youth with disabilities job training in Delhi
Sarthak Educational Trust is a civil society organization working for the mainstreaming of persons with disability through Skill Development and Employment Generation and have successfully trained and placed between 11,000 and 14,000 persons with disabilities. Sarthak was started in 2008 and in last 10 years have successfully reached out to one percent (2.5 Lakh) of the total disabled populace through its presence in 17 locations (New Delhi (4), Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Ambala, Bhopal, Jaipur, Kolkata, Faridabad, Pune, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram)
It’s been nearly two years that Sarthak has aligned with Andaz Delhi through various engagements. The journey of Sarthak and Andaaz started with hiring persons with disabilities and who enlisted themselves under Sarthak equal opportunity employer. The association initiated by providing employment opportunities to PwD’s and later paved the way by celebrating the joy of giving week (Daan Utsav), employee engagement activities, participation in regional conferences on disability and felicitation ceremonies.
The grant received from Hyatt Community Grant would contribute towards training and placement of 90 individuals with disabilities in one year in New Delhi. The three-month skill-building program will focus on candidate growth through approved curriculum from NSDC. The course will include training on basic English, computer, life skills followed by sector specific training in It/Ites, hospitality, and retail. After successful completion of training, candidates would be provided employment opportunities with connection to more than 1,000 corporations.
