Creating paths to lead a safe, stable & empowered life
Doorways for Women and Families, based in Arlington, Va., creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence and sexual assault, leading to safe, stable and empowered lives. Doorways’ comprehensive service model includes counseling, safety planning, economic rebuilding and empowerment and targeted children’s interventions – so that when a person or family comes to Doorways, they have the tools to recover from hardship and can begin to build a stable future.
The Hyatt Regency Crystal City shares Doorways’ vision for a community where all people live free of violence and have safe and stable housing. Hyatt Regency Crystal City’s team has rallied around Doorways, collecting household supplies for families moving from shelter into housing, volunteering at their shelters and providing meals for families, donating school supplies to children, and for two years, hosted the organization’s annual Brighter Futures Breakfast.
Through Hyatt Community Grants, Doorways will provide immediate shelter and a path to long-term housing, as well as counseling, workforce development, financial education, and life skills development for 25 young adults and families experiencing homelessness.
