Managing Carbon Emissions, Energy and Water
We’re committed to climate action and have set a science-based target to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Hyatt corporate offices and hotels take a variety of approaches to manage emissions, energy and water, which consider building type and age, climate, layout and local infrastructure, among other factors. Examples of property-specific projects include:
- Retrofits of lighting and water fixtures
- Upgrades to aging heating and cooling plants, as well as kitchen and laundry equipment
- Installations of efficient air handling systems
- Use of alternative water sources or water recycling
- Leveraging renewable electricity
- Implementation of building automation and energy optimization systems
In 2022, Hyatt designated a group of our owned hotels in the U.S. to transition to 100% renewable electricity, including Hyatt Regency O’Hare (Illinois) and Hyatt at Grand Central New York (New York). This adds to the hotels that have been advancing renewable electricity work such as Hyatt Regency Bethesda (Maryland) and Hyatt House Los Angeles/LAX/Manhattan Beach (California), along with a group of hotels in Europe.
