Putting Our Purpose Into Action

As a leading global hospitality company, Hyatt is in the business of caring for people so they can be their best. This purpose guides every aspect of our business, from how we care for our people, communities, and planet to how we source products and protect human rights. We are committed to enriching the communities we call home and protecting the planet for future generations.

To determine what our commitment should look like in practice, we conducted a materiality assessment and uncovered important issues for our business where we can have the most impact. These key areas are the focus of our corporate responsibility (CR) strategy as further described in these webpages:

Working Collaboratively to Increase Impact

Lasting change demands collaboration. We actively listen to understand the challenges faced by our colleagues, investors, guests, and community organizations – from youth employment and human rights to carbon emissions and water use. We do this through our existing communication channels as well as through focused engagement on CR topics, leveraging working groups, surveys, reports, industry groups, and social media.

Together with organizations like the American Hotel and Lodging Association, Cornell University’s Center for Hospitality Research, the International Tourism Partnership (ITP), the Paulson Institute, and World Wildlife Fund, we are working to identify and advance solutions. We also contributed to the hospitality industry goal setting led by ITP, which will help drive our industry forward in the areas of youth employment, human rights, carbon emissions, and water.

Finally, our corporate responsibility work supports the mission of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and each of our topic webpages outlines relevant UN SDGs at the top of the page.
